Majin & The Forsaken Kingdom Journeys West This Summer [Game Republic]

Namco Bandai announced today that it will release Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom in North America this summer, allaying fears that you’d never see the game formerly known as Majin: The Fallen Realm on these shores. Whew! Announced last summer at Germany’s Gamescom expo, Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom puts players in the shoes of a “cunning young outsider” who buddies up with the AI-controlled eponymous Majin to fend off “dark forces.” Given the cooperative beast and buddy action, we won’t chide you for making references to The Last Guardian. Developer Game Republic and Namco Bandai plan to bring Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom to the west this summer for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Yakuza 3 Features The Best Face Stomping Of The Generation [Clips]

We know that some PlayStation 3 owners have been enjoying the import version of Yakuza 3 for close to a year now, but not everyone has been shattering gangster cheekbones with white leather shoes, as prominently featured in this trailer. Thankfully, the North American and European releases of Sega’s Yakuza 3 are just weeks away. This new gameplay trailer for the localized version of Toshihiro Nagoshi’s gangster beat-em-up manages to reignite our interest in the game, even if just to crush some skulls by the heel of our imported Italian leather shoes. For those who haven’t been keeping up with the Yakuza series over the years, this trailer should highlight the variety, the insanity and the sheer amount of strutting you’ll do as Kazuma Kiryu. I was going to say that pairing Japanese gangster action with Princess Superstar was an odd choice, but the final few seconds of this new trailer reminded me just how out there the series can get.

Get Your Game on When You Put Your Shoes On [Fashion]

Adidas, after apparently losing its mind, decided to add a bit of augmented reality to a new line of their shoes. The AR Game Pack is a set of five shoes that will each have an AR code printed on the tongue of the shoe. When you remove your shoe and hold the tongue up to a web camera it will grant you access to a “virtual version of the adidas Originals Neighborhood.” The AR shoes hit the U.S. on Feb. 15. Each month between February and April will see the launch of a new interactive game in the neighborhood. Oh, I forgot to mention, according to adidas “your shoe will be the game controller.” Worst. Idea. Ever. [Sponsored] NEC

Monsters Probably Stole Your Princess [PSP Minis]

Sonic the Hedgehog Level Creator creators Mediatonic are making a move onto the PSP next month with Monsters Probably Stole My Princess , a game that pushes the size limit for PSP minis . PSP minis are limited to 100MB in size, and Mediatonic is cutting it awfully close with Monsters Probably Stole My Princess, which weighs in at 95MB. The mini is an upwards-scrolling platformer that pits the player in the shoes The Duke, a demon who may or may not have had his princess stolen by monsters. We’re really not sure, and neither is he, but that doesn’t stop him from chasing monsters and bashing into them to halt their manic flight. It’s small, it’s cute, and it’s on its way to the PSP and PlayStation 3 next month. Will I play it? Probably.

NBA Jam Sets The Wii On Fire In 2010 [Game Announce]

There were jams and rumors of jams , but now it’s official – EA is bringing back Midway’s classic arcade basketball game this year with EA Sports NBA Jam for the Nintendo Wii. Midway’s NBA Jam took arcades by storm in 1993, it’s over-the-top arcade basketball action and colorful commentary packing in the crowds at the arcade. The console port, released on March 4, 1994 (Jam Day!), sold extremely well. Now Midway and sequel creator Acclaim are both dead, but jam is alive and well in the hands of EA Canada in Vancouver, where EA Sports NBA Jam is being developed. EA’s NBA Jam “mixes the old school with the new,” with familiar gameplay mixed with new characters, additional game modes, and “gameplay depth.” “NBA JAM is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history,” said Peter Moore, President, EA SPORTS. “Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise.” Resurrecting NBA Jam sure seems like an interesting way to bolster the Wii sports game audience, an audience EA Sports seems to have had trouble locating over the past three years. Is it in the shoes? We’ll see later this year.
