Bad Company 2 Might Go Mac As Well [Mac]

With Mac computers the flavour of the week , Battlefield developers DICE are not ones to be left off the bandwagon, saying that they’re “currently investigating” bringing Battlefield Bad Company 2 to Apple’s platform. DICE’s Karl Magnus Troedsson said as much yesterday, Tweeting “We’re currently investigating the possibility of making BFBC2 available on Mac”. Pretty clear, that. It’s the first time the developers have looked at the Mac since 2007, when Battlefield 2142 was released on the platform. Battlefield Possibly Making Its Return To Mac Thanks To Steam [UGDB]

Rumor: Goodbye Ugly PSP Color! [Japan]

There are many PSP colors. Loads. And apparently, there will be one less. According to a Japanese retail blog, the “bright yellow” PSP-3000 will not longer be shipped to shops. Released in 2009, it seems that the color is one of the least popular PSP-3000 colors, if not the least popular. That probably means it won’t be missed! PS3の120Gが [ゲームは一日○時間]

Microsoft, Poland Is Pissed Off [Xbox Live]

The Xbox 360’s online service Xbox LIVE is available in 26 countries. Poland is not one of them. The service is available to other European Union countries, but it is not officially available to Polish gamers. (Those with broadband connections and American credit cards can apparently get online.) Polish gamers are claiming that as a member of the EU, Poland should be getting the same service that is offered to other countries in the European Union. Concerns about piracy have apparently held Xbox LIVE back. For the past six years, Microsoft Poland has talked about the introduction of LIVE. Former Xbox exec Peter Moore said that the service would eventually come to Poland. It hasn’t happened. Nothing much has happened! Well, topless model Ania (pictured) promoted Halo 3 in Polish lads mag CMK (think Maxim) — a game noted, ironically, for its online play. Oh, there was a Master Chief balloon , too. Neat. Website WeWantLive has launched to put pressure on Microsoft to offer the same service it does elsewhere in the European Union for Polish gamers. It seems to be working as Microsoft Poland has apparently issued a statement: Xbox is very committed to the Polish market and is appreciative of the passion and excitement that our community of users show for our products, including Xbox LIVE. This year, 2010,  is going to be a historic year for Xbox and our aim is to bring to our Polish community of users the full and best interactive experiences possible on the Xbox 360. We currently finalizing our plans for the Polish market that we will become public at the forthcoming E3 consumer trade show, later in June.  Our Polish community of Xbox users should expect to hear more about how we will take the Xbox 360 experience to another level in Poland. Another level? By offering a service that is already available in other European countries? That isn’t the next level, it is the level. In Poland, Xbox LIVE is just like Ania: pure fantasy. WeWantLive – co dalej? [We Want LIVE Thanks, Paul!]

So, How Much Did It Cost To Make God Of War III? [PS3]

It’s not often we’re told how much a company spends making a video game. So when Sony discloses how much coin was spent developing God Of War III, we’ll note it down. According to John Hight, from Sony’s Santa Monica studio, the blockbuster cost USD$44 million. With the average cost of producing a current-gen game standing at $18-28 million , you can see Sony went the extra mile with this one. Of course, even $44 million is nothing compared to Gran Turismo 5’s reported budget of over $60 million . [ Giant Bomb ]

God Of War III’s Ending Snipped, Might Make A Comeback Later [God Of War]

Spanning three excellent, bloody titles, Sony’s God of War trilogy has finally come to an end with the release of God of War III. But did you know there was originally an end after the end? Speaking with GameTrailers, Senior Producer Steve Caterson says in response to questions of whether any content from the game had been cut, “Probably the hardest cut was we had a whole kind of epilogue at the end planned that we just never got…just didn’t get…maybe later!” A downloadable epilogue, perhaps? DLC is always a contentious point at the best of times, but hey, at least an epilogue makes more sense as an addition to a game you’ve completed than inserting random missions, ala Assassin’s Creed II and Mass Effect 2. Modern Warfare 2, 25 Million Served [Modern Warfare]

Robert Bowling, community manager for Modern Warfare developers Infinity Ward, has returned to his Tweeting ways after a week’s well-deserved silence . And it’s straight back to Call of Duty PR work, too, with the revelation that since its release late last year over 25 million people have played Modern Warfare 2 across the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Those numbers are of course tracking only those who have played the game in some way online. Which would be the vast majority of gamers, but still, it means the actual number of people who have spent time with Modern Warfare 2 would be a little higher.

Mass Effect 2’s New Hovertank In Action, Blowin’ Up Geth [Clips]

Later this month, Mass Effect 2 players will get access to the Hammerhead hovertank , along with five new missions for the game. Here’s what the new toy looks like in action. It’s certainly more nimble than the Mako, your vehicle from the first Mass Effect, and the way those levels look custom-built around it is also promising. Less “great I just rolled off another cliff” moments. Mass Effect fans will also notice the way the Hammerhead looks more than a little familiar, its nose shape taken from early concept design work for the Mako. Call me crazy, but with the Mass Effect universe hurtling towards a final battle, could BioWare be testing the waters for the inclusion of tank warfare in Mass Effect 3? Some large-scale ground warfare would be a nice addition to the series, bring a little scale to its gunplay.

Violent Video Games Now Getting You 3-5 Years In A Venezuelan Prison [Only In Venezuela]

Venezuela’s new anti-violent video game law just recently went into effect, an opportunity for those who import or sell violent video games (and toys) a chance to pay a hefty fine and spend three-to-five years in prison. Gamesthirst and La Gaceta help the potentially violent video gamer better understand Ley para la Prohibición de Videojuegos Bélicos y Juguetes Bélicos, Venezuela’s anti-violent game legislation that was proposed last summer and went into effect earlier this month. Basically, the law says that those who “import, manufacture, sell, rent, or distribute violent toys or video games”—games with “information or images that promote or incite violence and the use of weapons”—can land them in prison for up to five years. Those guilty of promoting such games carry a fine “between 2,000 and 4,000 tax units.” Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez must be pretty excited to get this ” poison ” out of the hands of his people, particularly Mercernaries 2: World in Flames, which didn’t sit too well with government officials. The Dangers Of Owning A Portal Gun In Real Life [Clips]

Real life Bike Hero and enemy of viral marketing douchebags Freddie Wong is also the proud (unfortunate) new owner of an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, which currently looks a lot like a Nerf gun. Consider this a warning to the Mac-only gamers in the crowd who might not have already learned this lesson the hard way by acquiring the Terminal Velocity achievement in Portal. For everyone else, let’s just laugh at poor Mr. Wong’s unfortunate circumstance. (And if you get a clear look at that final single frame with its encoded message, let us know what it says, eh? We need to know if someone’s gone to the dark viral marketing side.) P.S. Thanks, Freddie! Update: Thanks to the pausing skills of many Kotaku readers, here’s that frame in question. Who wants to crack it in the comments? Double Update: Looks like Tim does!
