That means you can download it directly to your Xbox 360. The game is priced at £19.99. Our US counterparts have a different addition to the library this week in the shape of Fallout 3. There’s no word on when, or indeed whether, the game will also make it to the European Marketplace. Read more…

Buggy Shooter Port Makes Game Exec Want To Die (Not, Really Die!) [Xbox 360]

DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label EXTRA, the Xbox 360 port by 5pb, was released with so many bugs that production was halted. It’s 2010, there’s still no patch, and now a game exec writes, “I want to die”. Cave’s bullet hell shooter DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou was ported to the Xbox 360 by Japanese entertainment company 5pb. It was announced for Christmas Day 2008, but then the game was delayed. It was released in February 2010, but so buggy that shipments of the game were ceased . The reason for the bugs was that 5pb had copied the source code from developer Arika’s PS2 version of DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou. According to 5pb, “We’ve confirmed that the source code from copied without permission and intentionally altered while making this title.” As of February 2010, a patch still has still not been released. On the 5pb website, the company announced earlier this month, “Regarding the download update for Xbox 360 title DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label EXTRA, we were planning on making it available during January 2010, however, a technical problem has arisen and our company is currently moving forward with Microsoft to pin point a solution for this issue.” The company then once again apologized for the delay and asked customers for a little more time to rectify the problem. Ichiro Mihara, president of game developer Arika who did the PS2 version of DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou that 5pb copied, has written a post titled “The 360 Dai Ou Jou Matter”. “I’m exhausted, I want to die,” writes Mihara. “But I’m not going to die.” Everybody relax! Mihara is speaking figuratively and will be JUST FINE. DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou on the other hand…. 360大往生のこと [Mihara's sub Layer via オレ的ゲーム ]

Try A Little Miles Edgeworth On For Size [Demo]

Capcom takes advantage of the Nintendo DS’s download capability today, putting up a demo for Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth two weeks ahead of the game’s release date. Sometimes I forget that I can download things to my regular old DS. Hell, sometimes I forget I can do it with my DSi, and I write The Nintendo Download every week. It’s nice to be reminded of the capability now and then, and a demo of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth seems like the perfect way to remember. Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth lets players take a turn at crime scene investigation, searching for clues and using logic to combine facts to create new facts, eventually (hopefully) cracking the case. It’s a whole new kind of Ace Attorney game, with the same flair and style of the Phoenix Wright incarnations. Having trouble imagining what that’s like? Then download the demo, silly. That, or buy the game when it comes out on February 16th. Your choice!

Age Of Empires Godfather Working On…Settlers 7 [Ubisoft]

Living legend Bruce Shelley , with Civilization and Age of Empires as notches on his belt, has been out of the limelight since his studio, Ensemble, went bust last year . So, Bruce, been keeping busy? You bet he has. Ubisoft has begun marketing Settlers 7 in the West, and to help boost awareness of the series in the US (it’s always been a more Germanic affair), the publisher has revealed that Bruce Shelley has helped as a “game design consultant”. It’s only a “helping hand” kind of thing, so it’s not like he’s redesigned the series, but it’ll still be interesting to see how his hand has helped guide the game. Bayonetta Updated For PS3, Load Times Improved [Sega]

January 28, 2010 by admin

Sega has released an update for the PlayStation 3 version of Bayonetta, addressing one of the complaints we had about the port of Platinum Games action game, frequent and lengthy load times. Those load times are much improved. The 138 MB download brings Bayonetta for the PS3 to version 1.01, offering an option to install the game to the console’s hard disk. That 15-minute-long installation procedure will result in approximately 4.5 GB worth of disk space being absorbed by Bayonetta game data. It’s worth the wait and the extra sandwiches made during the download and installation procedure. Promise. Load times between chapters are noticeably shorter, but it’s the load times elsewhere, when Bayonetta picks up items or the player attempts to skip cut scenes, that make the install worthwhile. Unfortunately, the update to 1.01 doesn’t address some of our other concerns with the PlayStation 3 version, like the weaker frame rate and texture quality. But it’s an improvement over the launch version, an update owners of the PS3 version will no doubt be thankful for.

Today Sony Computer Entertainment America announced the domestic release of the game previously known as One Million Ton Bara Bara, now known as Patchwork Heroes , an original action puzzle game for the PlayStation Portable. So what is Patchwork Heroes? A game about destroying massive sky ships, tearing them apart piece by piece, and, you know, saving the world. And it will come to PSPs in North America this spring via the PlayStation Network as a digital download. The game comes from developer Acquire, responsible for the similarly interesting and quirky Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! series. We’ll obviously keep an eye on Patchwork Heroes to see if the PSP game will be worth the download. Announcing Patchwork Heroes for PSP [PlayStation.blog]
