Bohemia Interactive in collaboration with NaturalPoint and RockPaperShotgun.com is pleased to announce the launch of the 2009 Community Awards where the community nominate and vote for their favorite community enterprises of ARMA and ARMA 2.
Prague, Czech Republic – 1st December 2009 – Bohemia Interactive together with NaturalPoint and RockPaperShotgun.com today announces the start of the 2009 Community Awards which invites the extensive ARMA and ARMA 2 community to nominate and vote for their favorite fan made content. Winner of each category will win a pack of attractive prizes including one of 5 TrackIR’s from NaturalPoint.
“Our titles are known for their complexity and open approach to the modding community. Modding tools released by us earlier this year, together with a complex yet easy-to-use mission editor allow fans to create their own custom content, far above and beyond fan content typical even for other PC exclusive titles.” explains Marek Spanel, Bohemia’s CEO and continues: “We have always believed in the power of a strong community and the benefits which both sides receive from such a strong relationship. I respect each and every fan that spends hours and hours doing the precise and patient work on new ingame models, missions or even complex modifications such as completely new environments or campaigns. We would like to express our thanks to all these guys and we believe that an annual Community Awards is the best way to celebrate this exhaustive work and show the fruits of such labor, beyond the walls of our own community forums.”
The 2008 awards were a great success and we received some very positive feedback from members of our community that told us that this annual tradition must continue, and here they are!
Strengthened by the official partnership with NaturalPoint, creator of unique TrackIR PC accessories and supported by RockPaperShot.com we’re pleased to announce the launch of the 2009 Community Awards. We’ve added a new category – Best ARMA/ARMA 2 User Created Movie – in order to demonstrate the unique gaming experience and favorite aspects of the Bohemia’s titles fans.
The Bohemia Interactive Community Awards 2009 contest consists of three phases:
- Nominations: starting today till December 31st 2009 12:00PM CET
- Final voting: January 1st 2010 12:00PM CET – January 31st 2010 12:00PM CET
- Winners announcement: first two weeks in February 2010;
The following categories are included:
- Best ARMA/ARMA 2 Mod / Addon
- Best ARMA/ARMA 2 Mission
- Best ARMA/ARMA 2 User Created Movie
- Best ARMA/ARMA 2 Website
- Best ARMA/ARMA 2 Member
The nomination stage for the Community Awards has just opened so we ask everyone to head over to the online nominations form now!
“NaturalPoint is excited to participate in such a creative, community-driven contest,” said Seth Steiling, Marketing Manager at NaturalPoint. „The legendary ARMA community is so passionate and dedicated-collectively creating what is really an unmatched gaming experience. We’re honored to support both Bohemia Interactive and ARMA players around the world, and we’re looking forward to checking out some amazing submissions.“
“It’s fantastic to see companies recognizing the significance of gamer creativity. It’s the vital lifeblood that sets the PC apart as a gaming platform, and the BIS games have long been among the most valuable to modders.”said Jim Rossignol, editor at RockPaperShotgun.com

Some of you keep starting your pumpkin emails with “Mine’s terrible, but…” Seriously, guys, it doesn’t matter . You want to see how bad my pumpkin skillz are? Check out the last image. It’s supposed to be Bubs from Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People (which is really just a Bubs stencil from Homestarrunner.com) — but it kind of looks like a retarded Popple. Or Gary Busey, depending on whether or not it’s lit up. So, don’t be shy! Send me your gaming pumpkins!
