Bill Murray Talks Ghostbusters, Wears Sequins [Clips]

Bill Murray was on Letterman the other night and got talking Ghostbusters. Then he got talking the recent Ghostbusters game. I had to watch it four times to catch it all, so dazzled was I by that shirt. Watch the clip and you’ll hear how much he loved the experience of getting back into the character of Dr Peter Venkman while recording for the game. I’m glad he did, because Venkman’s lifeless voice work was probably the most disappointing aspect of the entire game for me, especially when placed next to the amazing job Dan Aykroyd did with Ray Stanz. Still, it’s always nice listening to Bill Murray, seeing as his public appearances are so few and far between. Then again, judging by his attire, there might be a reason for that. [via Go Nintendo ]

Atari and Eden Games return to the islands for Test Drive Unlimited 2, the sequel to the hit 2006 online sandbox driving game. How does 2 compare to the original? The difference is night and day – and vehicle damage. Test Drive Unlimited was a pretty big Xbox 360 title when it came out in 2006. It was a prime example of the potential of Xbox Live online multiplayer, allowing the player to see other drivers playing the game online, dropping in and out of races on the fly. It was a little buggy, sure, but we liked it. Now Eden and Atari team up once again for Test Drive Unlimited 2, giving players a whole new island and features that should make this second installment far superior to the first. Weather effects, a day and night cycle, and vehicle damage up the ante in the sequel, with a revamped single player narrative mode that you can play both on and offline. “After the highly successful Test Drive Unlimited which redefined the genre with massively open online racing, Test Drive Unlimited 2 will be an innovative evolution in racing games, expanding its unparalleled multiplayer experience and immersing players in a world full of new online content and lifestyle customization.” said Jeff Lapin, CEO of Atari, SA. “The game fits squarely into our strategy of moving online and generating new revenue streams while maintaining our current retail business.” Test Drive Unlimited 2 is due out this fall on the Xbox 360, PC, and the PlayStation 3.

During tonight’s Fourth Meal-timed trip to Taco Bell, you might want to bring some extra cash. The fast food joint is apparently handing out classic Atari games alongside purchases of its popular imitation of Mexican food. Kotaku reader LostCrichton scooped up attractively boxed copies of Super Breakout, Centipede, Lunar Lander and Asteroids at a Portland, Oregon location, all for the price of one Taco Bell kids meal plus an $4.50 for the remaining three. Not a bad deal, especially if you plan on eating tacos and sauce packets for dinner tonight. The Flash-based games feature classic versions of each, plus updated remakes based on the the Atari Classics Evolved releases from a few years ago. Certainly no worse than that copy of Sneak King or Big Bumpin’ you got from Burger King. Factor that—and the collectible nature of each—into your decision to put a gordita into your system. Do they still have gorditas? Anyone grab these yet, besides our friendly neighborhood tipster? Update: Looks like this promotion hasn’t gone wide yet, but here’s another pic of the box.

Here’s the trailer for Star Trek Online’s first major content update, in which the Borg decide to give the whole Borg Queen thing another try, since it worked out so well the last time. It’s good to see Cryptic making good on its promise of regular updates to the Star Trek Online, seeing as the game hasn’t been live for even a month and there’s a hefty helping of new stuff to do for Captains far more accomplished than I am. I just hope they can keep it up. The way the game is structured currently, space is already filled with countless Admirals. Where can they go from Admiral?

Atari is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Missile Command this year, offering up one more playable version of the venerable city defense twitch game, this time online and totally free. Missile Command fans and the reader looking to lose a few hours to a quality Flash game should try out OMGPOP’s take on the tried and true gameplay, which adds online cooperative multiplayer and tower defense-like unit upgrades. Bosses, new graphics, a touch of curiously addictive something have all been added to the web version, a game that consumed the Kotaku staff for too long this afternoon. Maybe playing some free Missile Command will get you hyped up for Atari’s plans for a big screen adaptation . Maybe you’ll just save a planet. Your call. Missile Command [OMGPOP]
