Ski Challenge 10 has launched

The world´s biggest Ski Race online again!

For the sixth consecutive season Greentube AG, developers of free-to-download 3D games, launched the virtual ski event for its 11 media partners all across Europe, including Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland Slovenia, Croatia and Norway. Ski Challenge represented what was the beginning for Greentube who went on to develop and release a portfolio of successful 3D sport games, such as Football Challenge and Mountain Bike Challenge, which are now followed by a fan community numbering in excess of nine million gamers from around the world. In summer 2009 Greentube developed a similar format with the release of the VW Polo Cup (www.polocup.at).

Ski Challenge 10 introduces two brand-new runs to the well-known line-up already available. The first is Beaver Creek, Colorado, USA, while the second will be revealed along with a range of technical improvements at www.ski-challenge.com and on the sites of its partners. Further highlights include general upgrades concerning the performance of the game and its user-friendliness. Ski Challenge will also be available to MAC users. As has been the case in previous years, Ski Challenge 2010 can be downloaded to mobile devices. Mobilkom and Swisscom are cooperation partners, and an iPhone version is in development as well to be launched in a few weeks´ time.

Last season an astounding 260 million online runs and a total of more than 600 million races (including offline)were registered. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the loyal fan base, which has grown to six million gamers worldwide, Ski Challenge has become the world’s biggest ski race since its humble debut in 2005. Ski Challenge was the first of what became a
succession of 3D sport games, including last summer’s hit for Volkswagen, from the successful company located in Vienna’s 6th district. A dedicated team of more than 90 employees at Greentube has developed six 3D games in 13 languages for more than 30 Business-to-Business customers (primarily TV broadcasters such as Pro7, France Television, Swiss Television, BBC, NRK, CBC in Canada and Canal+) in Europe to date.

Like with all of the company’s 3D games, Ski Challenge is financed not only by large static campaigns, but also by a dynamic In-Game Advertising model, which allows the booking of advertising on the basis of national prices per thousand contacts. “This internationally leading advertising model used in our 3D sport games was developed by our own expert team here in Vienna,” says Greentube CEO DI Eberhard Dürrschmid. “Booking can be carried out via a web interface; the system works with local market prices and is dependent on purchasing power. Campaigns smaller in scale as well as limited in duration can also be booked.” Accompanying studies on the effectiveness of the advertising are continuously carried out in cooperation with international partners (such as the Europäischen Sponsoring-Börse). A collection of household names are among the companies advertised in Greentube’s games, including Siemens, Coca Cola, McDonalds, Raiffeisen, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Red Bull, Nokia, Adidas, Swisscom, Telenor and UPC.

MTBS-TV Launched…In 3D!

Meant to be Seen and the S-3D Gaming Alliance Start Broadcasting Online in Stereoscopic 3D

Toronto, Ontario, December 2, 2009 – Founded in 2007, “Meant to be Seen” has earned a strong reputation for advocating and being a catalyst for stereoscopic 3D gaming. So much so, it has become the largest S-3D gaming website in existence. To view the MTBS-TV inaugural broadcast please visit: http://mtbs3d.com/cgi-bin/rss.cgi?news_id=378

“Meant to be Seen has been reaching gamers since 2007, and the first thing we learned is you always need to try new ways to reach them. MTBS-TV is our latest effort,” said Neil Schneider, President of Meant to be Seen.

Featuring Neil Schneider as its host, it’s broadcast through a 3D webcam and can be viewed in true 3D using modern S-3D displays like 3D monitors, HDTVs, and more on the Internet. MTBS-TV’s charm is its down to earth style and level headed analysis on the S-3D gaming industry.

The first episode features coverage of James Cameron’s Avatar video game in 3D, an explanation of how the game works with different S-3D technologies, and more.

“I joke about the production values – I’ve never taken myself too seriously. However, there is nothing cooler than to show video clips of games in S-3D or having our logo pop out of the screen. It’s really a lot of fun to watch and make these videos. However, MTBS isn’t the only pioneer in this. One of our members, Yuriy Nikshych, has been at this for some time with Stereo3D News. He practically begged us to do the same. What gamers ask, gamers get.”

Neil Schneider’s second responsibility is being the Executive Director of the non-profit S-3D Gaming Alliance (S3DGA). With the sole interest of making S-3D gaming successful in the home, S3DGA was launched in September of this year at the 3D Entertainment Summit, and is the recognized voice for the stereoscopic 3D gaming industry.

To date, S3DGA members include DDD, iZ3D, RealD, Sensio, XpanD, John Peddie Research, Blitz Games Studios, TDVision Corp. and more. Leading advisory board members include Habib Zargarpour, Senior Art Director for Electronic Arts, and Neil Trevett, President of the Khronos Group and VP of Mobile Content at NVIDIA.

“I’m very proud of what S3DGA and MTBS have achieved. While we are supportive of other organizations writing reports about the S-3D gaming industry, it’s equally if not more important to actually be in the trenches with game developers and gamers alike. This is what our three year track record is based on.”

S3DGA members receive a complimentary copy of the U-DECIDE Initiative report. Nearly 80 pages in length, it features actual customer feedback from traditional 2D gamers and experienced stereoscopic 3D gamers. Considered one of the most influential and informative reports in S-3D gaming, it was co-developed with AMD, Blitz Games Studios, The Game Creators, iZ3D, Guild Software, and Meant to be Seen.

Neil Schneider will be attending the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, January 5-10, 2010 and meeting arrangements can be scheduled via Carol Warren.

TOMY CORPORATION REVEALS GUIDE TO LATENT NINJA POWERS AND NEW CHARACTER MOVES IN NARUTOTM SHIPPUDEN: CLASH OF NINJA® REVOLUTION 3

November 26, 2009 by gamespress

TOMY Corporation today released the first installment of tips and tricks for the just released NARUTO™ Shippuden: Clash of Ninja® Revolution 3 with a guide to the new Latent Ninja Powers feature, as well as gameplay footage featuring unlockable characters Sai, Yamato, Kakuzu and Hidan unleashing their signature jutsu. Players can experience the death defying ninja moves of four popular Naruto characters and the latent ninja powers for the 40 ninja that are playable in the game.

Now available exclusively for Wii™, the classic 3D fighting game features new and improved gameplay mechanics, multiple gameplay modes, and for the first time, Wi-Fi multiplayer functionality.

A brief description of Sai, Yamato, Kakuzu and Hidan along with their signature jutsu can be found below:

Sai’s unique ability is creating attacks that jump off the page as he draws them. Sai can quickly scribble out birds or beasts that hop out of his scroll to attack his opponent. Generally his strong attacks lead to these ink creations, and knowing their startup times and trajectories is important in combining them with cancels to create dangerous chained combos.

Yamato is a great all-around character with some neat wood-based attacks up his sleeve. His forward-strong attack creates a wood trap that grabs and holds an enemy in place. His jump-strong attack is also a downward log that hits opponents multiple times, which is particularly useful in creating extra damage to fallen enemies.

Kakuzu has gained the ability to use multiple elemental jutsu because of the hearts of his enemies he’s stolen. Like most other characters, using the strong attack activates these more damaging attacks. However, in a unique twist, it’s the direction that’s pressed after the strong attack is activated that defines which jutsu occurs. Using strong attack, then quickly pressing down, will direct Kakuzu to lay a stream of fire onto the ground. He’s also capable of an upward wind attack and a forward, mid-range lightning attack.

Hidan is a character whose interesting back-story was turned into interesting game mechanics. He is immortal because of his religious connection to Jashin (his god), and his most devastating jutsu involves connecting himself to an enemy via their blood, and using himself as a voodoo doll to attack. In the game, if a player witnesses him drawing a seal on the floor they should immediately retreat. Standing in it allows him to use a secondary jutsu that is instant, unblockable and highly damaging.
