The weekly video game zerg watch for June 22, 2009
Zergwatch - It has been an exciting week in the video game industry as we begin unwinding from E3 and try to pick up the pieces as the dust settles. While many outlets are covering the same tidbits and trying to turn quotes into novels, Zergwatch continues our philosophy of ignoring the hype and marketing of the industry and getting down the the things that matter most, games that are here and now and the people who play those games. For the first time, we proudly stayed away from E3 as we have covered E3 in previous years and to be quite honest, most of the articles we wrote after buying into E3 hype of previous years, we’re still waiting for those titles and products to hit the market. So while E3 is indeed a blockbuster industry media extravaganza, it’s also nothing more than a media circus where developers lead journalists into their booths with the hope that they will get press coverage.
Zergwatch is gaming news for gamers, by gamers, so let’s get back to our previously scheduled broadcasts. Lots of great things happened in the past two weeks while we were on vacation, Ghostbusters was released, Virtua Tennis and EA Sports Tennis came out just in time to compete with each other. So lets forget about the promises of E3 and look at what we have today.
