| May 27 09 – Welcome to the weekly installment of the Zergwatch Top 10. For nearly two years Zergwatch has been syndicating and analyzing hundreds of video game news feeds from around the world and running statistical analysis by measuring buzz energy that surrounds video games.Buzz energy is not something you can see, taste or feel, but something that must be dissected and analyzed carefully from multiple external sources. These sources include how much a game is being written about on hundreds of video game websites, how hot it is in the blogosphere, weekly search engine request volumes, gameplay on networks like Xfire and Xbox Live and of course like all other lists, a small percentage of buzz energy comes from sales by major video game retailers worldwide.
We calculate this list with our proprietary formula that assigns strength values on each indicator and then creates a median buzz value which determines it’s ultimate buzz ranking. While this is not a perfect science, it is one of the most representative lists of “What people are talking about” on the internet and not just “What people are playing” or “Which games sell the most copies”. |
